What Is the "Hall of Heroes"?

The concept behind the Hall of Heroes tournament series is to bring local retail game stores together and give the NW gamer something to compete for beyond the regular store event. Started by Chris Ewick of The Game Matrix (Lakewood, Washington) in 2007, the HOH is proud to include Fantastic Games and Toys (Edmonds, Washington) and is actively looking to include more stores in the community. Any store or club can join. The only requirement is that they purchase their own HOH plaque and display it proudly. Participation in organization and running of the tourneys beyond that is encouraged but optional. So if you know any game store who might be interested have them contact Chris at The Game Matrix at 253-583-9708 for more details.

Three times each year, at local NW conventions, there will be tournaments for 5 of the most popular miniature game systems: Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer 40,000, Flames of War, Warmachine/Hordes and DBA. The conventions hosting HOH events are:
Conquest NW (Bellevue, WA in Feb.)
Enfilade (Olympia, WA in May)
Dragonflight (Bellevue, WA in August)

The overall champion of each tournament gets his name added to the Hall of Heroes perpetual plaque hanging in each store. Much glory to be had! You can see a virtual version of this plaque and pictures of the winners HERE.

Note on DBA: DBA or (De Bellis Antiquitatis) is probably the least mainstream game of the group. It's a 15mm quick play historicals game which spans 3000bc to 1500 ad. In a nutshell, it's a great game and very easy to get into. Armies are only 12 elements in size so they are inexpensive and quick to paint. You can see more about DBA HERE! Also, Northwest Ancient Gamers (NAGS) play DBA at The Game Matrix the first Saturday of each month (11am to 4pm) and Fire and Sword Hobbies every other Wednesday night (5-9pm).
